I’ve captured a lot of stories but this is mine…
I was born in Greenville and raised in Spanish Fort so it’s safe to say that I come from small town Alabama. The move to SF was one of the best things that my parents ever did for me because the school introduced me to the world of arts.
Yep, you probably guessed it… I’m a fellow band nerd. I gained a vast appreciation for music and instruments. It was a fun extracurricular activity that eventually led to scholarships but it wasn’t until junior year when I was invited to be on the morning news broadcast as the technician (and eventually the anchor) where I truly found my passion… video production.
I started making YouTube videos about the different hobbies I had, eventually receiving a partnership with a MCN (Multichannel Network). I remember receiving my first paycheck of $100 and at that very moment, my perspective and trajectory aligned with my purpose in life.
Fast forward to college at Troy University, I got my first DSLR camera for Christmas and started offering photo sessions to my fellow classmates. Senior portraits, Greek Life Events, Sports… I said yes to everything. The momentum kept building but it went completely vertical when a friend reached out about filming her wedding.
From 10 weddings the first year to 30 the next, I finally hit my break. I was able to travel around the southeast and beyond filming everything from backyard weddings to luxury Atlanta weddings.
With 5 years in and over 130 weddings completed, I thought the growth would never end… then March 15th, 2020 hit. Like it was yesterday, I remember refunding 4 entire weddings and officially had only a month of expenses left in the bank account. So what did I do?
I moved to Birmingham, AL and doubled my cost of living. Sounds crazy right? I saw the shift businesses were making to be fully online and knew Birmingham was the place with the most potential.
I launched Birmingham Creative and here we are today. 3 years later and still creating content for small businesses and non-profits. It’s been a wild journey but I’m thankful for every opportunity that’s been presented and every person I’ve met and had the privilege to work with along the way.
